Speaker University

Speaker University is an exciting and intensive educational program designed to assist aspiring speakers to become full professional members of NSA and NSA-IL, as well as provide opportunities for current members to upgrade their skills.

The program is set up much like a college-level curriculum and includes eight monthly 3-hour classes. Successful speakers serve as instructors, sharing hands-on professional speaking expertise. A variety of formats is used to allow free content flow as well as interaction, coaching and individualized applications. A serious commitment, regular attendance and completion of homework assignments are required for best results. A second year is also available for those wishing to continue the program.

The detailed syllabus is based on NSA's competencies: Ethics, Expertise, Eloquence and Enterprise. Expansions of these areas break down into the topical sessions of: World of the Professional Speaker; Topic Development; Platform Mechanics, Presenting & Performing; Marketing; Sales; Authorship & Product Development; and Managing the Business. The eighth session is devoted to a Final Project.
