The Foundation
In 2004, the National Speaker Associations Illinois Chapter created the NSA-IL Humanitarian Foundation to promote the awareness that a true professional speaker is one whose balance in life is personified by giving through "good works" for humanity.
The Award
Each year the NSA-IL Foundation will confer a Humanitarian of the Year award upon a NSA-IL Chapter Member who has demonstrated "good works," including pro-bono presentations for needy organizations, causes and people; service leadership; volunteer activities; financial contributions, etc. This includes good works provided for charitable causes, local communities, and religious institutions. |
|
In addition, the recipient of the annual NSA-IL Foundations Humanitarian Award will select a non-profit [501(c)(3)] charity or institution and a monetary
donation from the Foundation will be made in the name of the elected Humanitarian of the Year.
This Humanitarian Award speaks to the ideal that a true professional speaker is one whose balance in life is demonstrated by giving through "good works" for humanity.
Both the recipient of the Foundations Humanitarian Award and the recipient of the charitable financial grant will be honored in the Spring of each year at the NSA-IL Humanitarian Foundation Benefit.
Nominations are solicited in March of each year from the NSA-IL Chapter Members and Candidates. The nominations are reviewed by the NSA-IL Foundation Directors, who then choose three nominees for the award. Those nominees are then presented to the NSA-IL Members for their selection of the Annual Humanitarian of the Year.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrating Good Works
Nominees should demonstrate "good works" through active involvement in causes for humanity. These good works should take place in non-profit charitable organizations, religious institutions, and local communities, and should include hands-on activities; pro-bono professional presentations; volunteering of time, skills, talents; financial support; leadership through serving on boards of directors, committees, etc.
Serving as a Role Model to other NSA-IL Members
Nominees should display the personal and professional passion to help the less fortunate in society through both word and action. The NSA-IL Humanitarian Foundation is searching for those who "give back" to humanity by teaching, mentoring, writing, speaking, and/or volunteering, thereby helping others and also helping to cultivate future humanitarians.
